I thought last month was busy. This month outdoes that easily. Chess rules the month of April too. In the middle of the month, Altay placed 4th at the 2004 National High School k-12 Championship held in Dallas, Texas. Appropriately, a picture of both his trophies. Also his friend from Kazakhstan, Tenzing. His father used his Frequent Flyer miles to arrange for Altay to get to Dallas. There, Altay stayed at Tenzing's Aunt's home. Many thanks to Tanzing's father, Bob Shaw! Not forgetting helpers, Steve Farmer of the Desert Paradise Chess Club, gets treated to a Steak dinner for his help on Altay's chess game. Ed Yetman was also a great help in this endeavor.

All paragraps except this one, matches with a picture sequence. Good Luck.

Earlier in April, the AYUSA group in Arizona, went to Disneyland for a day, travelling all night to get there, and, all night to return for classes. They were tired, but seemed to enjoy it!

This was followed by the University of Arizona's Spring Fling carnival.

There were 2 track meets during the month and the pictures are mixed together to provide a race to watch. One at Cholla H.S. and the other at CDO H.S.

Then the Physic Class took a trip to Magic Mountain 6 Flags in California. Altay took a ride from 180 feet going at 60 miles per hour with 2.5 gees and seems to have enjoyed it quite a bit. The second half of the sequence is on the Colossus Roller Coaster -- rated at this time as one of the fastest (62 m.p.h.) and highest. We have pictures until it really starts ... then ... ZOOM ... nothing. Bet it was great!
