monthly meeting

When looking at today, its hard to see yesterday or tomorrow. Working in the now is somewhat restrictive, especially to fururistic thinkers or recognizers of past achievements. Having said all that, I would like to recognize some recent past activities. ViceChair Barbara accompanied Mayor Bob and wife Beth to Almaty to particicpate in the celebration of our sister cities' 150th

"Thanks Mr. Mayor".  A small symbol of appreciation for a very large boost for sister city progamming in general and for the TASCC program in particular.

birthday. A good time was had by all. Bill and Barbara Chinworth hosted a private reception for friends on Monday, October 4th. at the Grand Aiser Hotel. Raduga Kultasova was the angel in Almaty that coordinated the party. THANKS BILL, BARBARA AND RADUGA! Beth Walkup will be at our meeting on Wednesday to share some of her exeriences. I encourage all to attend to hear a 'first timer's' views. Also, mark your calendar for Tuesday, October 26th when Mayor Walkup will share his experiences at a get-together between 9-10am in the Children's Meeting Room at the Main Library.

Mayor Walkup tells of his unique and delightful experiences in Almaty during his visit there in early October, 2004.  Chairman Jerry and Mayor's office representative Cio Castillo pay close attention.

Sister cities programming is very important, especially in view of our current signs of global distress. Perhaps we can get a look at ourselves through the eyes of the Mayor and get a feel for what we can do to enhance Tucson's image in world affairs.

Fun and good times were had by all at the home of Dan and Jennifer on October 9th. The occasion was a 'welcome back' to students from Kazakhstan. Over 20 people attended and ALL had something in common....Kazakhstan. Ted and Dinara came down from Tempe and brought their beautiful daughter....what a pretty baby. The all new FilmPals DvD was reviewed...WOW! GREAT JOB, Alanna. A journalist from Almaty and good friend of our committee, Svetlana Dylevskaya, was in attendance. Her whirlwind visit to Tucson ended with a horseback ride at the Westward look and this nice party. Thank you Lana, for your burst of sunshine in our lives. Thanks for coming Natasha,Aizhan, Jason, Bakhyt, Seth, Ted, Dinara, Leia, Gary, Yerbolat, Patrica, Barbara, Alanna, Akmaral, Dan, Jennifer, Sally, Jerry, Fred, Zura, Samanta.

Our meeting on Wednesday will conclude with a brief but highly energetic plannign session to cover the short term, mid term and long term for our committee. I suggest we just use flip charts and magic markers and record our brainstorming efforts.
