Students gathered around the tables and had many questions for Mr. Kozhamkulov. He cheerfully answered each of them and was happy to greet each student more informally before the end of the reception. The newly formed Kazakhstan Club presented Mr. Kozhamkulov with a gift. The reception was the start of a busy two days on campus, where Mr. Kozhamkulov met with the UA's President Shelton, the department of International Affairs, viewed the Phoenix Mars Lander Project, and the Optics Mirror Lab. Chair Emeritus of TASCC, Jerry Gary, initiating the project, was very pleased with the new relationships established.

A Farewell party in honor of Rector Tolegen Kozhamkulov of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and his head of International Services, Mr. Talgat Seitov was held, October 9, at the home of TASCC Chair Barbara Chinworth and husband Bill, who was the chef for the occasion. Chair Emeritus Jerry Gary presented honorary citizen plaques from the city of Tucson to them. TASCC members, Dan Davidson, Fred Dotton, Yerbolat Zhumakhmetov and Gary Sawyer as well as TASCC Community Life Chair Michael Charton, TASCC Secretary Sally Gary were there to wish them a safe farewell.
